Great engines of Kempton
These two engines were installed in the 1920's. They were the last steam engine pumps to be installed for water industry use, and broke away from traditional beam engines to use an American design instead. The engines worked for 60 years, but have now been retired. A museum has been set up and one of the engines is run approximately once a month. The second engine has been partly dismantled and is used to show visitors a bit more of the 'works' than would otherwise be visible.
The engines are in a very elegant building, there are also two distinctive chimneys, unfortunately these are best seen from the nearby motorway flyover, so it wasn't possible to get an attractive image.
