Kensington Palace Gardens Italian Garden Jan 2012
The Italian garden in Kensington Palace Gardens was created by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. It is situated at the North end of the Long Water (or Serpentine) which is the artificial lake created by Queen Caroline. The Fountains are situated at the point where the River Westbourne (one of the Lost Rivers of London) enters the Kensington Palace Gardens.
The Fountains have recently been renovated, and notable among the refurbished fountains is one at the very end of the gardens, which now plays most impressively, for many years it only managed a faint half-hearted dribble.
As the light was good I took a lot of photos of this fountain. I also took some photos of the area around the Long Water which also looked particularly attractive in the Winter light.
