This is one of the streams by which the River Glyme enters Blenheim Park. I've never been able to pin down the history of this area, but it seems that originally the River Glyme followed a meandering course through wet meadows; this forms the other of the two streams. This stream runs dead straight for a considerable distance, and I deduce that it was constructed as a mill stream (it also goes through an old mill, which for a time pumped the water for Blenheim Palace).
The name 'The Sheepwash' is presumably some indication of what was done here at one time. Again, I've never found any reference to what used to be done here.
The scene has changed considerably in the last 15 years, there was a large horse chestnut tree by the bank on the RHS of the river, this fell around 1998, however, I found that a similar view could be recreated from this angle under a nearby tree.
