This is the East end of the Serpentine, as the lake in Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens is now called. This lake was created by damming the River Westbourne and the bridge marks the outfall from the lake. There is a waterfall and an area known as 'The Dell' on the further side. The modern building is 'The Dell' cafe, very nicely sited with great views of the lake, but not a place to go if you are looking for a cheap meal!
