Barkers Building London Kensington

Some friends have been interested in the reliefs from the former Barkers Store building in Kensington.
This is a horribly difficult building to photograph! I managed to catch good light on one end of the store this morning and tolerable light at the other end when I passed it this evening. This shows the reliefs at their best.
The Barkers building was erected in 1932. Looking at the reliefs there seems to have been an intention to show 'modern' emblems, I am attracted to them because of the charm of these 'futuristic' representations as they appear to our eyes some 70+ years later.

I'd like to get some better images than these, but this building is only well lit at the extreme ends of the day, this facade faces North and is generally in shadow. In addition there are glass windows that obscures half of the sculptures even when the Sun is in the right place!

I'll try to research them a little more and post my findings.
